Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I wax when I could shave?

Most people are irritated by shaving, especially on the down under. Continuous waxing helps break down the hair follicle, causing the hair to come back much thinner and more sparse. For some people, certain areas never grow back! Also, you’ll be smooth and hair free for a couple of weeks vs. daily shaving, cutting your shower time down.

This is my first time waxing! Will it hurt?

Put it like this, waxing must not hurt that bad if we continue to do it, right? The 15 minutes of minor discomfort is worth the results. Be sure it’s done by a professional, especially if it’s a Brazilian Wax. This is not a DIY project. At Beautiful Waxing Boutique we are known for our quick and efficient technique, making your experience more manageable. Some even say our waxing technique is painless… I'm not sure about that, but we sure try to make it as painless as possible!

What is the difference between “The Whole Shebang” (Brazilian Wax) and the other Bikini Waxes you offer?

The Whole Shebang is a Full Brazilian Wax — everything off — from the top of the bikini (excluding the tummy trail) to the inner buttocks (excluding the butt cheeks). If you don't like it totally bare, you can keep a strip on the top, or a longer strip going down the labia. It’s up to you.

Half & Half leaves a strip from the top of the pelvic area down the labia. Some compare this service to a Deep Bikini (this service excludes the inner buttocks).

Nice & Tidy is a bikini line wax. We make you Nice and Tidy along your panty-line.

What makes Beautiful Waxing Boutique so great?

Our professional waxers are trained to provide you with a clean, quick, and efficient waxing service. You'll be in an intimate setting, offering you a relaxing and comfortable environment. Our wax is great for sensitive skin and made with the finest ingredients from Italy. It works well regardless of the room temperature, which means our rooms are toasty and warm when it’s cold outside and cool and refreshing when its hot outside.

How long should the hair be?

The hair should be about ½ an inch long depending on your hair texture. You’ll want to wait two to three full weeks after shaving. When new to waxing, almost everyone feels their hair is long enough to catch after waiting a few days from shaving. Trust us, it’s not! We know it’s hard to wait, but hang in there, you’ll love the results.

Help, I have ingrown hairs! What do I do?

You want to be sure to exfoliate with a body scrub at least 2-3 times a week (give yourself a couple of days without exfoliating before and after a wax… remember: waxing is ridding the hair, but it also lifts the dead skin – exfoliating). You’ll also want to have an ingrown serum handy to apply to your skin daily. Not only will the serum help eliminate ingrown hairs but if one happens to sneak in, it’ll dry it up right away. This way, you don’t have an itchy, irritated ingrown giving you discomfort. Also, picking at your ingrown hairs is a NO-NO as it can lead to an infection. Beautiful Waxing Boutique’s ingrown serums and body scrubs are all natural and fabulous in ensuring proper skin care in-between waxing.

Can I wax while pregnant?

You sure can, but be sure to ask your doctor first! You may be a little more sensitive, but we can work with you on that.

Why is there a chance I’ll have to reschedule my appointment if I’m running late?

We understand things happen and will do our best to always accommodate our customers. We schedule customers for the time allotted for the service, so if The Whole Shebang takes 25 minutes and you’re late, have to use the restroom, check your text messages, and so on; by the time you hop on the table, we’re already 15 minutes in and you’re encroaching on another appointment. Rescheduling is not always the case but can happen.

Can I get a Brazilian Wax during my menstrual?

You sure can! As long as it’s not heavy and you have on a tampon, we’ll service you.

How do I care for my skin in between waxes?

Be sure to exfoliate with body scrub at least 2-3 times a week (give yourself a couple of days without exfoliating before and after a wax… remember: waxing is ridding the hair, but it also lifts the dead skin – exfoliating). Use an ingrown serum if you have an ingrown hair problem and restrain from picking, digging or plucking. Say “No” to the razor! Say "No" to waxing hibernation (during colder months) and be sure to stay moisturized and hydrated.

Can I go for a tan before or after waxing?

For tanning beds or sun bathing; Nope. Not for 24 hours. Spray tanning is up to you. Some feel you can spray tan after a wax, but we don’t advise  it — your pores will still be open! Flip-flopping it and waxing after a spray tan may lift the tan from the waxed area.

I’m using a topical cream or acne medication. Can I still wax?

Unfortunately not if it’s an acne cream, aging cream or medication such as Retin-A, Retinol, Accutane, Alpha Hydroxy, Tetraycline and so on. Such creams and medication causes the skin cells to be sensitive. Waxing while using these can cause skin irritation. Ask your dermatologist the recommended time you should wait to wax after you have stopped using your medication.

Are there age restrictions?

Customers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Our eyebrow service is not your average eyebrow wax. We are obsessed with great Brows! We measure your brow to your face structure each visit to ensure its proper shape. Can I leave my socks on?

Believe it or not, we’re asked this one a lot! The answer is Yes, you can leave your socks on if you’d like :)

What are the benefits of sugar waxing?

Sugar waxing, also known as sugaring, uses a sticky, gel-like paste to remove hair. The paste is made up of lemon, water, and sugar, making it 100% natural and hypoallergenic. Sugaring is ideal for all skin types, especially sensitive skin that is prone to irritation. Additionally, sugaring helps reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. Sugaring is said to be less painful as the paste only sticks to the hair and not to the skin.

What is a Vajacial?

We treat our faces to facials so why not add the vajacial to the list? The vajacial is a 30 minute treatment focusing on the bikini line and pubic mound. Service includes cleansing, hydration, extraction of blackheads, removal of ingrown hairs, and finished off with a soothing or skin brightening mask.

Can I drink alcohol or caffeine beforehand?

Alcohol and caffeine are vasodilators – they thin your blood, making it easier for you to bleed during hair removal. Instead of drinking a glass of wine for courage beforehand, save it as a celebration for braving your first bikini wax!

Can I wax if I am or have any of these situations?

We professionally recommend NOT WAXING if you have any of the below:

  • Taking antibiotics or acne medication (e.g. Accutane, Retin-A)

  • Sunburnt or used a tanning bed in the past 24 hours

  • Varicose veins

  • Swelling or sensitized skin (e.g. boils, mastitis, etc.)

  • Skin disorders or diseases, such as bruising, recent hemorrhage, or scar tissue (especially recent)

  • Warts, moles, and skin tabs (area can be avoided)
